SEGA Casino and SEGA Poker closed to players

Monday 27th September 2010

Brand is no longer king when it comes to launching and operating a successful online casino. It is just under a year ago since software developer Playtech partnered with SEGA to come together to combine SEGA's existing SEGAPass platform to provide the power for the SEGA Casino and SEGA Poker sites.

The brand recognition of SEGA would surely prove to be a hit and an instant online success, wouldn't it? Well it would appear not, we have recently discovered that SEGA Casino and SEGA Poker are soon to be a footnote in the annals of online gaming history.

A message on the SEGA Casino homepage reads 'We are no longer accepting Registration / Deposits from your jurisdiction' a suitably curious message when accessing from the United Kingdom.

Existing customers are being given the opportunity to withdraw their funds before the site closes, although at this point in time the site does not give further information as to when this could be.

It was less than a year ago that SEGA Casino and SEGA Poker were launched, causing a lot of excitement in the online gambling industry. SEGA Casino boasted a wide variety of game titles, over 125+ games from software supplier Playtech, including blackjack. Additionally SEGA themed games such as The House of the Dead, Virtua Fighter and Sonic the Hedgehog were also offered.

SEGA Casino was licensed by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
